The Department of Mechanics is one of the six departments of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Our department provides courses in the field of technical and applied mechanics, experimental mechanics, biomechanics, and civil engineering at three technical faculties (FAV, FST, and FEL) and three non-technical faculties (FZS, FDU, and FPE). The department guarantees several bachelor, follow-up master, and doctoral study programmes. It also cooperates with middle schools on various student projects. The department conducts research within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and its research centre NTIS - New Technologies for the Information Society. The department members focus mainly on research in dynamics of structures and machines, modelling of heterogeneous structures including composite materials, fluid mechanics, and biomechanics.
